A Dreamy Intimate Ireland Garden Wedding at Burtown House and Gardens in Athy, Co. Kildare, Ireland

Shelby and Cormac Kelly //

Meeting Shelby and Cormac was one of the highlights of my career. Not because they had a beautiful wedding day, but because of how beautiful they are as people. Yes, they are beautiful people on the outside but on the inside as well. They are kind, creative, and intertwined in a deep love for the Lord and each other.

We travelled from Spring, Tx to Ireland. A long trip for sure and the farthest we'd ever been from home at this point. I had some struggles driving, but the scenery was other-worldly. We'll go into more detail in our future Ireland Travel Diary, but here is what Shelby and Cormac had to say about their dreamy, whimsical, and romantic garden wedding day.

Due to a reception back in Texas, we worked with Shelby and Cormac to get their film prepared to show to all their friends and family who were not able to make the trip across the pond.

Burtown Gardens, Ireland is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, but why did YOU choose it?

We chose Ireland for two reasons: 1) my family had never been, and 2) we wanted to meet Cormac's family where they were. We chose Burtown House and Gardens in Athy because we wanted to be where the wildflowers were and Burtown House is where we found them. I mean wildflowers for absolute days.

Wildflowers have been symbolic in our relationship first because of how Cormac saw me, a bit wild but still delicate. But now wildflowers are representative of how we want our relationship to develop. We want to grow wherever we land, really wherever the Lord places us, and be used to influence to further the kingdom. Kind of how the wildflowers fall and where there's one there are one-hundred more. They're beautiful; easy to grow with, easy to spot, people are drawn to them. We want to be like that.

Why did you pick Me?

Oh, EASY. We picked you (Jacob) initially because of your work. Your style is exactly what we were looking for. After meeting with you for the first time we couldn't believe how intentional you were with getting to know us and understand our story. We felt heard and known. That's what has made working with you unmatchable and now an incredible wedding video is the icing on the wedding cake.

You guys.. What do you do? How do you spend your time together? What is important in life to you?

We spend a ridiculous amount of time developing ideas, talking through business plans and hashing out creative concepts. We're both ideas people and we're both creative. Cormac is an illustrator, knows web-development, and has a degree in marketing and design, and I'm a photographer, writer, and I have experience in graphic design and layout. We bounce ideas off of each other and once we're set on something we usually start working on it. Our skills compliment each other well and we feel really blessed in that.

If we're not working on a project we are probably drinking coffee on the couch or out for a walk. Probably talking about Jesus or going back and forth trying to get to the bottom of some question. Or potentially still talking about all of our wild ideas.

The proposal... Tell us everything!

This past October Cormac told me he was going to plan my 23rd birthday party. He had the year before as well so I thought nothing of it. We hopped in the car and I had no idea where we were going until we got there. About 45 minutes later we pulled up to Rose Hill, a plantation home in mid-county where my grandparents got married 54 years ago. It has always been special to me.

When we got there, we went inside and all of my closest friends and family were there and they had each brought one of my favorite dishes for lunch. Lemon Ice Box Pie, baked potatoes, raspberry and mushroom salad... very strange sounding, but it was fantastic and well planned.

After eating we all walked outside to take photos on the front porch. Cormac and I took our photo last, but before we did he handed me a card.

For every occasion that we’ve been together, he writes and illustrates a card for me. Each card illustrates what I like, what we’re doing, or something significant about that particular season of life. I opened this card and read to the bottom where it said, “open here.” I flipped the quarter-folded card open to its final capacity, and there was an illustration of Cormac down on one knee. I looked up and there he was, doing just as the card foretold.

A special thank you to Shelby and Cormac for trusting us and our vision, we loved every moment with all of the kind and extraordinary people you surround yourselves with.
