Daniel and Ashley | Wedding Day at Bella Woods Midlothian, Tx
Daniel and Ashley Morrison //
WEDDING DAY AT BELLA WOODS IN MIDLOTHIAN, TX
Why do you want to capture your wedding on video?
We would say like most people, we want to have our wedding documented to look back on for the rest of our lives. We want to have this tangible thing that reminds us of the special day. We want our loved ones to get to watch this film and see the love Daniel and I have for one another and not necessarily celebrate us, but to celebrate purpose of marriage. For us, we want our marriage to be celebrated because it is a representation of the Gospel and how Christ loves the Church. We hope that people watch this video and see how our joy and love for one another comes from Christ. We don't truly want us to be celebrated that day, but God to be! I used to work at Sky Ranch and something we would say a lot would be "let the main thing, be the main thing". That's our goal with our wedding day and our hope in capturing our wedding on video!
Why did you pick Me?
I picked you to be our videographer because I have gotten to see first hand how you have worked at a wedding! The way you work with other vendors is professional and you do a great job of being where you need to be when you need to be there. I know that you are organized, caring, and just fun to work with! You have a great way of capturing all of the beautiful moments of a wedding. When we watch you work, we feel like it is not a cheesey wedding video, but it is a raw representation of how the wedding day went and how the couple is with one another. That is why we picked you! You have a great way of portraying the realness of a couple and their love. We also think a huge part of what makes a wedding video is to showcase the little things. We think you have a talent in capturing small moments that you collect together to create something special!
You guys.. What do you do? How do you spend your time together? What is important in life to you?
Soo we are in a huge transition point in our lives. We both used to work at Sky Ranch. I (Ashley) was a counselor one summer, a leadership position the next and then moved to full time for a year as a family ministry specialist! I have moved to Dallas now and am a Sales Support Executive for an IT Consulting company. That sounds fancy like i know a bunch of technology things, but I really get to work on the business side directly with Southwest Airlines client! Daniel is still working at Sky Ranch as a retreats specialist. He was a counselor for two summers and then did the fellowship program which is a year long commitment to learn all sides of camp! He will working their through June and then move up to Dallas with a new job!
Daniel and I are super easy-going and open to anything! We love getting to try new things together. New restaurants, trying new date nights like going to an escape room or going rock climbing. We also love to just chill and watch movies...we are big scary movie fans! I would say something that is very important to both of us is family and our community. We value family very much and know the importance of having community in our lives. We hope to find a home church after he moves up to Dallas and join a life group to have people in our lives!
The proposal... Tell us EVERYTHING!
Wow this is a long story, but a good one!!
So to tell you our proposal story, I have to explain our first date!
Daniel and I both went to A&M, both worked at Sky Ranch, but had never met before! We actually got set up with two of our friends who are engaged and in our wedding party(so fun)! Basically Daniel reached out to me and asked me out on a date! So the boy drove 3 hours to college station...because he was doing the fellowship at Sky Ranch at the time, and took me on a date! He came down a little early and I had a break in between classes so we went to Chickfila for lunch as a chill get to know you meal before our official date. Later that night, we went to dinner at my favorite restaurant and then went to Tiff's Treats after because he had never had it! Then we realized that he lost his credit card at some point...haha something we joke about now because he was so embarrassed! Anyways, we eat our cookies and then are driving around and I have no idea where we are going...he pulls into the Barnes and Noble parking lot and he's says "you ready?". Of course I'm like "sure!!", but what the heck are we going to do at a book store. Well, little did I know he had a plan. We get inside and he says, pull out your phone. So I pull out my phone and he sends me a text of this list of things: fav childhood memory, fav family tradition, a meal you want to cook, a place you want to go, etc.. He then tells me that we are going to go around the book store and take pictures of book covers that represents these things and then come together and tell each other the stories that explain it. The whole time I'm just thinking, who is this guy?!
Alright so back to the proposal story!!
We are in Dallas staying at my parents place because it was my idea that we should go to a Mavs game on Saturday. They were playing the Rockets and he is a huge Rockets fan because he is from Houston. So the next day, Sunday Dec 9., we go to breakfast at my all time favorite breakfast place and I notice that Daniel is on his phone. This is bizarre because he is big about not being on your phone during meals together! I ask him who he is texting and he said that his roommates are out looking for this book and having trouble finding it. We finish our meal and right when we get to the car his roommate calls him and is like "Hey, do y'all mind going to Barnes and Noble to find this book I'm looking for?". That's when I started to have my suspicions, but I was currently in leggings and a t shirt and thought there was no way he was proposing!! So we go to Barnes and Noble and start "looking" for the book, but then Daniel is like "hey we should do that thing where we go around and find a book that represents something". He says find a book that represents your favorite gift you've ever gotten and something that represents our future. So we do that and then come back together and he doesn't mention anything about sharing what we found. So I ask him, and he says oh we can do that later! Okayyy...so we leave Barnes and Noble and we were planning to go back to my house and he misses the entrance to my neighborhood. After a couple more minutes of me questioning him.. we arrive to this beautiful pond with a fountain and this little area that is set up with memorabilia from our relationship. We sit down and then he goes "are you ready to share the books we found?". I share mine which aren't relevant and then he shares his, but to share his one about our future he pulls out this small book that was hidden. It was titled "you had me at chickfila", something we had always said to each other because that was truly the first time we had met. He goes on to reading it me and it was a book that he made about our relationship. When he got to the last page, it said I have one more question for you, Ashley Lauren Hibbs...and then he pulls the ring out and gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him!!
It was so thoughtful and an amazing day! I felt very loved on how intentional he was about everything!!
So sorry for the novel..I told you it was long!!
Bella Woods, why this place over everywhere else?
So for me personally, I had been to a good amount of wedding venues already because I did my internship with Wed & Prosper. This gave me an eye to see what was important for a venue to have and kind of narrow down what I wanted in a venue for my own wedding day! If I'm being real with you, which I will always try to be..a huge reason we chose the venue we did was because we needed to be inside for our ceremony. Aint nobody want to be outside mid July for a whole ceremony! I also have dreamed of getting married in a white chapel with white pews which they had! The owners had a huge impact on me as well because I am a people person and big about relationships. They were so kind and a great couple, it made our decision even easier!
What experience do you want to give your guests?
**Que celebration by Kool & The Gang. We want our day to be a celebration!! We want our wedding day to be life giving to those who attend and again, we want our guests knowing the purpose of our marriage! We hope that our wedding is fun and a party worth remembering!!
